About three years ago, I had my kids come to the park with me for some
drawing lessons. I was pointing out how each tree had a mathematical nature to
it. We looked at how some trunks branch with predictable intervals, how branch
angle, thickness, and distribution were laid out, how there were just so many
divisions before you reached leaf level, etc.
    In about an hour, they were looking at plants in a whole new light. We had
sketch pads and pencils and were counting the trunk-major-branch-minor
branch-twig numbers (how many divisions) and so forth. This is exactly that; a
set of algorithms to produce the tree based on a compact number of parameters.
    It's nice to see that there are people who actually consider this sort of
data about the real world. But POVers often do, when you come right down to it.

Cheers!

L-System (lyapunov) fractals.

The Algorithmic Beauty of Plants is a great read. Unfortunately out of
stock.

Wow, that looks even easier to use than the last version. Keep up the good work!

   It is easier, and if I'm not mistaken, much faster. I like. :)

   I just love it.

Several people reported problem with saving include files.
I fixed that bug in version 1.2.1. It's available from the same link:

Seems to be a slow server connection everytime I try and download it anyway.

Yes, sometimes it's very slow. That site is in Siberia :)
If it's slow try to use the mirror in Spain:

Oooh! There's the blossom I was looking for! Now I'll have to go back and
redo the bushes for my IRTC entry!

Thanks for the great tool, Gena!

(Well, I already need to start thinking about the logistics of this
render... if I use radiosity it's a 45-60 hr render, but where I live I've
been getting power outages about every 18-20 hrs for the last week. I've
started it three times now, haven't got past 61% :-( And the radiosity
only really improves about 20% of the image, barely even noticable on the
rest (and of course, the noticable part is at the very bottom!) Decisions,
decisions.)

Some minor misbehavior still exists with saving include
(non-mesh) files. For example, if you don't use blossom
(blossom type is not selected) POV-Tree will write to
file:
#declare BLOSSOM=;
Then if you use TOMTREE or TOMTREEm to render the tree
POV-Ray will fail parsing this line. Temporary workaround
can be just comment out this line:
//#declare BLOSSOM=;

I'll fix this problem in next release writing to file
something like:
#declare BLOSSOM="NONE";

It will happen after my vacation somewhere in the end of
September. I'm also planning to add some other
changes/improvements to that release.

Gena.
