I had a friend who was "done" in a Cobra by a flashing blue light, but
then I guess there are Cobras and there are Cobras :-)

Hi all
Its strange, about a month ago I was working on a very similar image, a
Cobra mkIII and a viper locked in battle etc. I modelled several ships in
Spatch, but only got as far as tracing this:

A bit dark to tell what's going on, but...
"locked in battle"? I'm sorry, but I don't consider two objects
zooming around each other at a few hundred kps attempting to
alternately get a decent shot off or to avoid getting shot being
'locked'...now, hand-to-hand combat in a mech...THAT'S 'locked in
battle' ;)

maybe I could put a couple of pirates fighting (in mechs) over illegal goods
(firearms etc) in front of the space port while some viper police dude is
attempting to shoot the cobra down for having "forgotten" to get launch
permision...

...however frontier never really lived up to expectations and I remember
still playing elite after I bought frontier.
As I remember I achieved a pretty fine rating. maybe its time to dig the
A500 out....although I hear theres a soon to be released version of elite
(release 4 maybe) for the PC which should be mostly funkadelic.

I always preferred Frontier over Elite or FFE (Frontier: First
Encounters). Never could get the hang of docking in Elite, always
crashed ;).
Elite 4 isn't due out till about 2004 the way it's going at the minute.
For the record you can now download FFE from www.eliteclub.co.uk and
then get JJFFE from www.jaj22.demon.co.uk to make it run on windows.
Good fun :).

Too bad I can't figure out how to flay my computer memory settings
to be able to run Frontier, or I'd be playing that instead (tho I have
grown fond of the RIG items)
...which brings us back to: simulating entire solar systems in POV.
Braben can do it, so should we! ;)

I'd think the blues would be worrying more about the mechs than
a moving violation that's a 500 credit fine...

I miss playing Frontier (Elite 2) on my Amiga.
Good picture except for one thing ... the
flames from the engine look like a solid glowing
crystal, not a hot glowing gas.
