3 versions of the same pic - 1 plain vanilla, 1 with photons and 1 with fake
caustics. No other param changes between versions.

I was hoping the photon version would give me fingers of light - in theory is
this possible?

I'm going to try again tonight with some changes + radiosity. And yes, I know
all the bloody dolphins are the same.

And displaying it with a lower gamma that's what I see in the photon
version.

All the same dolphins look bloody.

That's a strange looking effect on the sea floor in the top version.

I think that's the fake caustics. Fake caustics only show on shadows IIRC...

The photons version looks quite strange with the ripples being very flat.

With media it should be, otherwise you can of course fake it with
looks_like in the light source...

Maybe try with some larger scale waves so you can see the caustic
structures more detailed.

No spacing - used count

 photons{    count 400000    autostop 0    jitter 0.4    media 100  }

And how large is the area the photons are shot at?

In my water photon scenes i only use photons on a small area of the water,
but for refraction this can of course lead to quite bad results.
