I don't know if it is a No-No to post
POV-images here that have had their tone-
mapping changed with another program.

To make this image I started with a
radiosity version of another variant of
my Mushy Sphere and then used Micrografx
Picture Publisher to alter the colors
(based on a remapping curve I made.)

It is not "realistic" in any way, but I
kind of liked the new tones and colors.

I think only that people would want to know about it so as to not have to
believe it were something done in POV-Ray alone.

Seems to have affect on shadows while still leaving shadowed places.

Tor Olav, this isn't odd-coloured, it is gold! Very good!

If the only change was to remap each color channel, you could probably
accomplish the same effect with the curves post_process filter.

Interesting. It won't be cheating anymore if you know the equations, 'cuz now
there's PovMan! :) (You really should use a text object for that sig too...)
;)

OK. I see.

Yes the low tones are most severely affected,
but the mid and high tones were also somewhat
affected.

The goldish color weren't there in the original
image.

Thanks for mentioning this.

The curve was modifying the "master" channel.
(I made it like a kind of S-shape.)

I guess I'll have to read about that post_process filter.

But I have one little question before I start to read:

Can those post_process filters do things that cannot
be done in image editors ?

I have forgotten what PovMan was. So now I'll check it up.

My signatures doesn't always fit in the images,
so you may have a point about rendering them too.

Does this mean it affects all 3 channels equally?

Yes. They have access to the full precision, unclipped color values, as
well as additional information (such as depth, surface normal,
intersection point, etc...).
