looks good, but the heightfield texture looks somehow strange. Probably the
finish differs too much from the walls.

It's come on quite a lot. The HF looks a vit irratic, and I'd imagine
it'd be difficult to build on such terrain, but apart from that it
looks great.
Some guards parading round the top might be good.

Perhaps the strangeness of the texture is partly due to the fact that
the only light source is almost directly behind the camera.

Only partly IMO, maybe try giving walls and heightfield the same finish and
check out the result.
