Just trying out some glows as lights. There are some obvious problems, but I
think the emergency lights pass.

i haven't played much with glows yet. can the shape be manipulated? it
looks like your e-lights are oblong like they should be. your main
light looks like it has a bulge in the middle. is there a looks_like
for glows? or maybe a feature called shape_of would be cool. nice pic
by the way. is the moire pattern on the far wall jpeg's fault? do you
plan on developing the scene further? i think you should. i like it so
far and see a lot of potential.

Looks good, as Ryan says it could be developed, maybe metalic walls as it
already has a Sci-Fi feel to it.

Needs area lighting. Nice effect these have. Lack of a floor is
disconcerting.

and then she sees the flashing emergency lights
and then she gets epileptic
and then they think she also has the virus
and then I forgot the name of the Sci-Fi movie

Sure... plus the fact that my bricks are too small.

Well thanks, but no, I don't plan on doing anything with this particular
scene. I might use the emergency lights as constructed somewhere else, but
they were quick enough to make that I doubt that I will even put them into a
macro. This was really an experiment about using Glows as lights. The walls
are just planes with "pigment { Bricks}" on them...
The fact that Glows extend their glow beyond solid surfaces means that the
lights will have to be against a wall or ceiling, but you can see that even
that doesn't work too well if they are right up against it as the ceiling
light is. It is like the Glow is on a disc and you can't see the part in
the ceiling.

The movie was "The Andromeda Strain" based on Michael Crichton's book, and
directed by him, I believe. I remember when that movie first came out, the
soundtrack LP was in a hexagonal sleeve to make it look like the virus.

A quick look at IMDB confirmes, but it's directed by Robert Wise.

There is nothing to the light fixture, just some cylinders and torii. It
would take me longer to clean it up than for you to write it. The glow is :
glow {
location < -8.0, 0.0, ZEE >
size 2.5
color < 1.0, 0.0, 0.0 >
fade_power 2
type 0
}
with a light source :
light_source { < -8.0, 0.0, ZEE >
color rgb < 2.0, 0.6, 0.6 >
fade_distance 50
fade_power 2 }
}
... again, nothing special.
