I had just come back from Jordan and also had time to visit the Dead Sea and
Petra. Petra amazed me. Now I know there are very good povray artists here
but I have yet to see Petra as a 3D image.

Petra! (I just fell in love with that place)... I wished I had the skills
to make Petra on povray!

Here are some clues about what Petra in Povray would look like :

Jaime Vives Piqueres says that his tomb concept was losely based on the tombs
from Al-Hijr, in Arabia, today known as Madaen-Saleh.

I made a picture of Petra is Bryce awhile back:

Could probably do the same thing in POV, but I'm not sure I'm up to
trying now.

Is that the temple (or whatever it is) they used in Indiana Jones and The
Last Crusade?

During a web search for Petra, I found quite a few pictures of the various
buildings, sights, etc.. One picture in particular that struck me is the one
attached. It's a shot of the Khazneh. The fellow had the courage to climb up
the rock face for 50 meters or so, opposite the Khanseh, and take the
picture. Since you're camera got fragged, I thought you might like it. Oh,
and the website I found it at is:

Yep, and countless other movies. I spent a day there as well, an amazing
place. Apart from the structures, the natural patterns in the rock are
stunning. I'll try and post a small jpg. when I get home.

Seems I will do an other building using radiosity...

David (I'll try... not very good at modelling but it's a nice
challenge...)

Here's a couple of photos taken at Petra (the bottom one needs rotating 90
clockwise).
