BTW I coudln't help but notice the chair and box are parallel, and the torii
are perfectly stacked. You must be very anal about your arrangements! ;)

I just wanted everything to show up nicely. Actually, the torii don't look
quite right for some reason. I'm going to have to look into it.

PS: Notice that the sphere and the cherry are in the same diagonal line. :)

Ruritania. I can send it to you, if you want.

No. I'm not good at texturing (not yet anyway :) I would like to test this
on a 'real' image, but I've only been working on perfecting this in a simple
situation until now. The most complex texture here is the one for the
sphere, which uses a planar gradient to darken the top of the sphere enough
to show the normal.

That'd be great ;) - Its incredibly detailed - who was it done by?

Pabs

looks like you have cracked it, not keen on how the bump mapped sphere came
out, but that's prolly just me, 7.5 hours? on what? thats painfull

This is cool.
I'm hoping you'll enter in the contest for the cover image for the "10Best"
collection. This image with just one more object would qualify! (I'm worried I
might not get ANY entries!).

Yup. Radiosity does that to your renders. :)

Gasp! Me, among the 10 Best Images? I'm not good. I'm mediocre at best. Ask
Gilles, he's good. Wait, let me read it again, maybe I misunderstood...
Nope, it still says the same thing. Gasp!

I'll have to look at the rules about that. I haven't really been paying
enough attention to your project, I'm sorry. I've had enough worries of my
own in RL lately. Can you give me the link to them?

> (I'm worried I might not get ANY entries!).

OK, now I get it. You're only asking me to enter because you have no
submissions. That makes it all clear now. OK. If you're that desperate, I'll
enter it. :)

I don't think you have to worry, at least I am working on something, although I
don't know, whether it will work.

I hope i'm not the only one ;-)

There are no submissions to date because the upload page will not be officially
open for some time. The contest in question however is not of the "10 best
images ever done for any purpose," but rather a contest that displays 10 cool
things that povray can do. I.e., the cover image. Your image may not have the
most entertaining rationale for bringing 10 things together, but it has a lot of
classic cool things.

To Christoph: cool. the more the merrier!

Oh, OK. What I wrote was merely sarcastic. Just pullin' your leg. :)

Oh... now I really get it. OK, better. Then it should be easier for me to
get in. So let's review, this image shows boxes, spheres, cones, torii,
bicubic patches, sphere sweeps, phong shading, reflection, normal
perturbation, radiosity, light groups... did I miss anything? I guess all I
need to add is photon mapping, right? I should also see if I can install a
converter, so I can download a model off the 'Net and show that POV can work
with that as well. Oh, and I should add a height-field too. So much work, so
little time...

I guess so. :)

Yeah!
