Rendering time was not so insane. I re-rendered it at 1024x768 to make a
screen background, and it "only" took about 10 hours using my
dual-PII/450+p200 cluster.

The colour does not come from the bricks themselves, but from three
lights (red, green and blue) behind them. No dispersion here.

If you want to do someting with plenty of glass bricks, there's the
'school of fine arts', by Wiel Arets, in Maastricht, Holland.
Right now, I've been unable to find a photograph of it, but I
will search again...

Oh, there's also "la maison de verre" (glass house) in Paris (15), by
Pierre Chareau.
http://www.culture.fr/culture/inventai/itiinv/archixx/imgs/p26-03.htm

And I found a page that lists some famous projects using glass bricks :
(but no images, it seems)
http://www.archinform.de/start.htm?page=/projekte/3118.htm

Fabien.

Something's not right... yes, there it is! None of them are broken or
missing. That's unusual, considering the only usage of them I've seen
is to make bus stops.

They also make great basement windows -- they are thick enough that any
gravel flung by the lawnmower bounces off.

Hmm, just watched a ask-for-help show on TLC where a woman used these in the
front foyer (to improve lighting without sacrificing security. Her
installation was not nearly as good as Francois'. :)
