Thanks, but no go... The problem you spotted is fixed by my max_trace_level
of 40, but the problem I'm having seems to be a different one...

Like I said before, it looks like a "hollow" issue. Make your fish
objects "hollow" and see if the problem is still there.

Thanks, but no change. I tried using the hollow boxes...no luck. Triangles
and polygons still show the same problem...

Maybe a finite-vs-infinite fog problem? Try putting something behind the
fish, so the background isn't an infinite distance away.

Already tried, no good. It actually seems to be showing up properly against
the fog, but incorrectly with foreground images.

Sure, it's in p.b.s-f

I'm not an expert at paint packages, but it looks to me as if your included
image has transparency set for every color within the image. Is this what
you meant to do? I think you would achieve the effect you are after, if you
would set the background of your image as transparent, only.

Keep on tracing!

Well, yeah, that would be the ideal solution...but PS removes any
transparent backgrounds when the file is not saved as a .psd. As to all my
colors being transparent...if you rendered the file in p.b.s-f the fish part
is showing where the background is "general" not. The problem I seem to be
having is the background, which I want 100% transparent, is at points
showing up less then 100% creating slightly light boxes appear around the
fish.

I guess I'll live but this problem sure is annoying...

Chris:

Have you tried using a 32-bit targa (TGA) file? I
was working with alpha channels back and forth between
PovRay and PhotoShop and found that PNGs didn't work but
32-bit TGAs did.
To make and save a TGA with an alpha channel in
PhotoShop is a PITA but it *is* possible and povray reads
the resulting file correctly.
