This is a very early draft of an alien fish living somewhere in the
galaxy.
I know it looks a little stiff but I think I'll bend it in some
directions. Textures are just to identify it as a fish. (Not as my wife
said while seeing the spatch window: looks like kind of starship...) 8-P
I dont't like the eyes so far.
Some infos: modelled with spatch, scene setup with moray, rendered with
standard POV 3.1 features

It looks good, especially the tail. A little more texturing (I find a crackle
normal makes good scales, given the right slopemap), and it will be great!

I tihnk the problem is in the angle. If you look at real fish eyes, they tend
to stare directly out, in a direction normal to the body. Also, they tend to
be dark middle with a white outside, with very little colour or gradient. Drop
by a pet store for research! :)

All of my fish's eyes are black. No gradient.

Doesn't look all that alien, but it does look like a very
good model of a fish, nice texturing aswell.

Why, if it's alien, and was completely seperated from Earth's evolutionary
processes, does it resemble an Earth fish? Okay, I'll stop nitpicking :-)
Pretty cool, but I don't like the eyes either. Maybe just black reflective
spheres.

Well if it lives in anything even resembling water it will probably evolve a
"fish like" appearance simply because it is so efficient for maneuvering in
liquids.

Just remember what happened to the whales. Once they lived on the land
and later moved to the seas. And now they look like fishes. Or think
about the catfish, clownfish, jellyfish ...

Yes. I think simple black spheres will be better.
New version will be posted in some days. (hopefully)
