Hi All,
I have been using pov for about a month now and this is the first image i've
made that is more complicated than a few spheres. I saw the original render
in a book called "Computer graphics: principals and practice" and wanted to
see if i could make something similar. This is my first venture into using
a program like povray, so please let me know what you think. It took about
4 hours to render.
Kevin

Not bad - nice soft shadows.
Nice use of csg.
Where is the peachy colour coming from - texture or is it reflected from the
?sky/sphere?

Very nice.. have you thought of putting candles inside those shapes, and
something for the candle light to project on to?

Well sir, you're off to a good start. You seem to be getting good results
with metallic textures (very tricky, in POV), and I see you've already
mastered area lights and made some semi-complex CSG objects.
Regards,
Dave

Very nice - but don't let it distract you from writing any more books.... ;)

Nice work Kevin, this looks like the kind of thing that Willow would have
in her bedroom.

Definitely put lights of some kind inside them, that would be great. You're certainly
on your
way. Making stars and moons then rotating them around to use as cutouts really shows
you can
operate the program.
The texture differences of inside and outside is a nice touch. But now try something
you
haven't copied...
;-) Just an inside joke.

Wow! The metal is good. Put some kind of light in them and put them into the
dark.
Can a light_source use looks_like to look like an object with media (like a
candle)?
