-Thought I'd post a larger still from the animation, since a lot of details
don't show up too well in the animation.
Credits to Chris Colefax for the starfield, Darcey Johnston for the
planetary atmosphere, and everyone else around here whom I'm constantly
ripping stuff off from. Oh, and I guess Warner Bros., but I think they stole
the idea from somebody else, too.
I couldn't find the right font (anybody have a better one, that looks like
this? http://home.earthlink.net/~grasshoppah/temp.jpg)
I didn't plan on spending much time on this, but it turned out pretty well,
so maybe it's still a W.I.P. Any suggestions?
Regards,
Dave

Ha, that's funny. Maybe they did in the movie too.
Sorry I hadn't replied before now. I went off looking for that font, or
similar font anyways. I had seen one very much like that not too long ago.
No luck in finding it again.
I really like this rendering a lot. I didn't care much for the picture from
the movie you have shown even if it might have been using a photo of the
Earth. Just didn't look as sci-fi to me as this ray trace does.

Oops, you caught me! Maybe adding some collision detection code would be a
good project for this weekend... 'Cause then I could make the little suckers
blow up when they collide... Wow, what a feeling of power! Their fates are
in my hands! Ha ha ha ha ha!!!
Regards,
Dave

Cool! - Glad you like it! I looked for two days for that font, and still
can't find it, although Karl Pelzer sent me one that creates a similar mood.
Also someone who has their own "Mars Attacks!" web site gave me permission
to use a bitmap that he scanned, but it's kind of low-res. I'll experiment a
little more and see what I can come up with.
Thanks very much for helping me look for the font, you're very generous!
Regards,
Dave

Also, in the animation, you can see the ships run into the earth... ow.
