Thanks!
It looks a little better uncompressed (red and green are clearer), but it's
not a big difference. Well, actually I haven't seen the image 100%
uncompressed, since I got it as a .jpg from TonyB, but it was much higher
quality than the one posted here.

Yes, it was a quite a lightning experiment for me, who has not experimented
much with lightning before :-)

It's supposed to look like metal used in a maybe kind of alien way, if that
makes sense.
It's an abstract image anyway...

Well, it's an abstract image, so...
But what is it that is strange about them?

Hmm, I think myself that the wires are good enough :-)

Several macros were used...
The object you see in the attached image contains 8 half beams and 16
splines (each made of 2 spline segments).
To create the splines I used Chris Colefax's Spline Macro System, but a lot
of coding were required to adopt it to my scene.
The object in the attached image is repeated 55 times in the scene in a kind
of pyramid tiling. Most of them are visible in the image. The objects are
textured after they are tiled. That way I avoid that the textures tile too.
For speed reasons I also coded the splines so that the ones in the front of
the image are smooth, but the further into the background you go, the less
cylinders and spheres the splines are made of.
Hmm, there's a lot more to it, but I can't explain it all here... :-)

Wow! Looks like some sort of alien "forest". Is that a man in a space
suit in the upper right corner?

Terry Gilliam's Brazil (1985)
http://www.ecreations.com/movies/reviews/b/brazil.shtml
http://www.trond.com/brazil/
It's a truly weird and chaotic film.
An I think it's quite famous too.
In one of the scenes in this film there are
some of the most delicious tube- (and cable- ?)
messes I've ever seen.
Unfortunately none of the pages at this site
shows good images from this scene:

But this image gives you a little hint:

I like this image.
This texture is a realy good one. As I'm a weak scripter, I wasn't able
to recreate it. Is it possible to have a look on this part of the
script?
Thank's

When I get the time I'll clean up the whole source code and put it on my
website, but in the meantime, here's the code for the texture I talked
about:
pigment {
crackle solid
scale 0.15
frequency 20
color_map {
[0.0, color <0.7,0.7,0.7>]
[1.0, color <1.0,0.7,0.4>]
}
}
normal {
average
normal_map {
[crackle 0.4 scale 0.15 slope_map {[0,v][.05,1][.05,u]}]
[dents 2 scale 0.05 turbulence 1]
}
}
finish {phong 0.2 phong_size 1 brilliance 2}

You can decide for yourself if it's a man in a space suit, an alien, or
something completely else. :-)
