BlobMan people (very clever, that blobman is). No net, no uniforms, only
one individually posed character, and more finishing touches than I could
name, but I'm on to other things so this one may be "finished."

I love the lighting on this image. Kind of humourous, imaging a naked
basketball team ... heheh.

Maybe this would do for a net?:

#declare BBNet=
torus {1,.5
        clipped_by {sphere {0,1 translate .5*y}}
        pigment {gradient x+y
                color_map {[.15 color rgb 1][.15 color rgbf 1]}
       scale .15 translate .1*y}
        finish {ambient .25 diffuse .75}
        scale <1,1.25,1>
}

object {BBNet}

I know it's not a fancy spline or torus sections but it kind of looks like a b.b.net.
Maybe the uniforms should be priority one however.
:-)

OH NO! The main reason I stopped working on this was that I had no
quick-and-easy (tm) net that I could just throw in there. Now I'll have to
take a look at this.

Tell me, how do you pose these guys?

By putting a whole bunch of numbers into a whole bunch of variables. It's
kind of tedious, but the end result is pretty cool.
