It's a surprise so I can't say what this is until you (Ken T.) look at it.
What I can say though is that this render had a problem about having a object
added to it whether in CSG or just by itself. I get incorrect or no texture
showing for the added object. To try and summarize, there's a very large scaled
sphere for the ground and another for the sky (not sky_sphere). That's it.
Only other thing besides is the triangle mesh (a converted 3DS by Grand Admiral
Stone) model and a couple of Suns for light. I thought it was the ground fog at
first but that's not it, hollow on or off kind of thing. I guess it has
something to do with the scale instead, sphere {0,1 scale <90000,10000,90000>},
but I haven't taken the time to check yet except that even 1/100th the scale
does the same thing. Somethings not right...
Anyway, so what you see here CSG differenced away from the ground in essence is
textureless and has the fog color, just so you know.

Just in case someone wants to know about the 3DS model:

Now I need to go email Marc Schimmler about something :-)

I was hoping this one would slip by quietly... Thank you for the tribute
none the less :-)

Why haven't I recieved a links page submission for this site ?

I'll add it now but don't forget I am always looking for sites like this
to add to the collection.

I got it right this time... the render not the B.D. date. So happy birthday 5
days early Ken. The Star Wars models URL was a unintentional gift for all I
guess.
To explain about the render problem and fixes: I had messed up on how to go
about the CSG difference of the height_field from the ground sphere. Needed
inverting is all. However the fog was the major problem, I neglected to
remember that filtered fog color always wreaks havoc on transparent objects
(media containers and the like). Was an ugly fix to that since I still needed
the filtered color in this scene or it throws everything out of place. I put
the camera inside of a filtered color sphere instead and didn't use any
filtering of the fog.
Hope that makes sense. Cheated on the kicked up sand, it's media but was so
smooth (I couldn't wait on the method 1 type) I had to add "noise" to it in PSP
by post-process. Sorry.

Bob

I did have a link to that site after all. They have changed their URL so
my link was going to a redir page which explains why it didn't appear when
I scanned my file for a duplicate. In fact that is one of the oldest model
links in my collection.

Again thanks for the tribute.

I have had filtering fog mess up some of my best textures in the past
so it is understandable, to me at least.

Cheers,
