Big improvement from the last version. Still needs something in the ceiling
to justify the large amount of space there. The blue sky showing through the
fan looks a bit misplaced I think. I like the sterile look, hope you don't
plan to add too 'messy' textures.

Looks like something you might find very deep in the insides of the
ship. Not sure what kind of ship, though...it could be a spacecraft, an
oil tanker, a submarine, or even a stationary facility like a lunar base
or an oil rig. You need more visual hints there, maybe an obviously
misplaced diving mask or a helmet for an environment suit.
The size of the passageway seems to imply that large pieces of machinery
are moved through here sometimes, but the door is obviously too small.
Maybe make a huge door nearly as tall and wide as the archway?

I agree with Paul Vanukoff that this would look good as a dark scene
with the apparent main source of light coming through the fans. Maybe
make a row of failing lights on the ceiling, with most of them
completely dark and one or two at about 20 or 40 percent intensity. Use
fade_distance on the overhead lights(not on the fan lights), a dusty
media atmosphere, and radiosity for a good lighting effect.
And maybe have water or some other fluid partially covering the bottom
of the room, at an angle, as if the ship is at rest on an
incline(perhaps adrift after crash-landing in an ocean or beached
somewhere) and damaged.

Some nice foul green drippage.

That's exactly what the idea is! :D

I just got tired of black on the bg, so I changed it to blue. All that is
temporary, of course. Oh, and I hope heavy, thick rust isn't too messy. Like
I said before, I plan on making several, alternate versions of this image.
Same view, possibly same lighting, but different textures. Something like a
"before" and "after".

Hey, I like this idea. Thanks for the suggestions.

Put a silver orb up above the door. It would give it that Big
Brotherish feeling.

I prefer this new doorway, but I happen to have a problem with it. This
looks like... this door could not really be opened. As if it were just a
fake door. Perhaps add a shadow around the door and something to open it
(buttons/camera...)
But, for the pipes, wow!
