Well, the watch is now more or less finished, I just need to tweak the metal
texture a bit, it's too white.
I made use of the date() function in MegaPOV, the watch now shows the time
when the scene was parsed :)
BTW, does anyone know of any free digital/LCD type fonts that would be
suitable for the LCD screen? The font that is there now looks nothing like
the real thing :/

I'm not sure whether I'll do the strap or not, I'm getting a bit tired of
this watch now, and the strap for this thing would be a minor nightmare to
model. Unless someone has a Velcro include file of course :)

Hmm, maybe you could just make models of the numerals and put them in an
array, and have them be chosen by a macro which takes a number.
Also, something I have never seen anyone do in an image of an LCD
display is the "floating" appearance of most of them. There is usually
the LCD elements in a plane within the glass, and a bit of "shadow" on
the back of the glass. If you did this, it would really add to the
realism of the display. As it is, they look printed on. A greenish tint
to the background of the display could help a lot too.

Impressive.

Also, add more reflection on the glass.

You're up way past your bed time, Son.

I think there was a digital.ttf that came with earlier versions of
MS-Excel, although it's neither free nor am I sure I'm not thinking
about digital.fon that came with Windows 3.x clock.exe program.

As someone else pointed out, you could make your own (although
complicated). It would ass to the realism by having a shadow on the
reflective surface of a real LCD screen.

A watch like that needs a genuine leather strap, not a velco thingy.

Keep up the excellent work.

Technically that is a dot matrix display font rather than a LCD font.

Well...not quite that green. :-)
While I have seen displays like that, most of the digital watch displays
I have seen have a gray-silvery background with a little bit of greenish
tint to them.

Yes, that's exactly what the display on this watch looks like. I'll tweak
the texture a bit, and add that shadow you suggested. I found a nice (and
free) LCD font.

I already found one after doing some searching on altavista, but thanks
anyway :)

And you would of course share this resource with us, right? You just
forgot, right? ;-)

It might be simply that there isn't anything for it to reflect. Metal
textures tend to look white when viewed outside of a scene. I usually
like to stick a couple of busy planes outside of the camera's view for
the metal to reflect.
