How did you do the height field in the background?
A couple guesses:
a modified image_map of a rendered image of the height field?
A slope-dependant texture which is transparent on parts with a low
slope, but black on places with higher slope? Or the other way
around?(depends on which direction you choose for the slope)
Or maybe a plain transparent texture and a low max_trace_level, so it
stops early and makes black areas...?

The central hand thing reminds of a leatherworking project from scouts
for some reason, but the mountains in the background are amazing! Please
share how you did this! They look like they were brushed onto a canvas
with a Sumi-E brush. It's beautiful.

Are the mountains in the background done with a Clear pigment
and an interior {ior} sort of thing?

I like this one. Particularly the colour scheme.
