Hi! This is my preliminary work for the current IRTC-topic (ruins). I have
big plans for this, so tell me what you think. What it is? Some sort of
alien craft.

An asteroid/small moon converted to a colony ship?
Will you name it the "Marathon"? :-)

I interpret that as sarcasm. :(
No, that was not what I wanted it to look like. Where do you see that
asteroid? If I wanted to make that, it would have looked different, I think.
And the topic is 'ruins.' Hm.
I call this object the 'stabilizer'.

No sarcasm intended...I was referring to the computer game "Marathon",
which starts out on a colony ship with the same name. The ship was
really a conversion of Deimos, one of the two moons of Mars, and was the
size of a relatively large asteroid. There were other ships built from
smaller asteroids...

Well, from what I have read, Deimos is roughly potato shaped. This looks
like what I would expect to end up with after excavating and smoothing
over a planetoid in the process of converting it to a habitable
structure.

Hmm, the stabilizer for what?

When I interpreted it as sarcasm, I though that you meant that

It's supposed to be som kind of 'stabilizer' for an alien building. That of
course collapses. And the event should occur in my image. I don't know how
the 'stabilizer' work, because it's alien. (duh..)
I'm quite satisfied with the idea, actually. But what du you _think_ about
the thingy? Any suggestions? Anything?

I have been absent from these NGs for quite a while (almost one year),
and am wondering what _bu or similar means. I guess it means: Before
UUencode. Am I right?

Yup. "Before upload," "Before UUEncode," whatever. I find it hard to know
exactly how big binary postings are before I post, so...

Hmm, an anti-grav pod with the remains of a support column still
attached to it?

Maybe a couple crumbling buildings hovering around in the
background-something like Niven's "Ringworld".

Multiply by 1.333 and that's "after upload". Easy.
Your picture reminds me strongly of the "Easter Eggs" we had as a child:
made of chocolate and with a ridged surface exactly like your ship, for
easier breaking the egg into smaller parts. I am not very familiar with
space ships, nor any more with easter eggs :) I hope you don't feel offended
by this??
