I' am not satisfied with this image.
This image was rendered with megapov, contains only two objects and one
light source. I have tried different photons settings. But whenever the
number of photons_shot increases, the result is the same. How can I
avoid the bright and dark lines (1, 2)?.
The glass is a bezier lathe, and is part of a bigger scene you can look
at:

I would guess that you can't get rid of those lines because they are
supposed to be there (following the laws of physics). You can probably
remove them by removing the 'lip' at the top of the glass.

I followed your advice but the result was more or less the same. Anyway thank
you.
Alberto.

Look at a real glass in a similar setup, and you'll notice
(almost) the same dark lines...
(I came across the same 'problem' some time ago, a&nd
finally realised that it was just realistic !)
