Tell us more... what does this macro have to offer? Can you tell it how
many units wide you want the final spotlight? Does it work with Area
Lights? How about the MegaPov 0.4 group lights and circular light
additions?

Don't mean to be nosy, but I'd like to see the fruits of this labour
from a scripting sence

Well, it is a pretty basic macro. You can look at it on my povray page, URL
in sig.

It basically creates a column of point lights, surrounded by a cylinder with
a cap at the far end. The problem is, you have to place the cylinder outside
of the viewable area. Like I said, it is basic, and I was really just
playing around. You specify the two ends of the constraining cylinder,
radius of the cylinder, color of the lights, and the "granularity" (the
number of point lights used, 30-40 looks good, any less and you can see
visible banding).

Why not just use a spotlight?

Three reasons:

1. I was really just playing around and felt like turning it into a macro.
2. Wanted something with a soft-edged shadow.
3. Just because. :D
