Been working frantically for most of the day today.. the image is due
tomorrow at midnight, and I've only just started it.

It is, (of course?), the Sarcophagus at Chernobyl. I plan to add some
more details, and fix up the texture on the front wall a bit. I'd also
like to add something for scale. Final version will use radiosity, area
lights, and all that fun stuff.

The sky (and camera angle) are from my Gaint H image, posted here around
^H-Mas.

Opinions? I plan to work on it more tonight, and most of the day
tomorrow.

Simon

Vertigo notwithstanding, it doesn't look very ruined. Not even abandoned. If
some of hte panels on the side were cracked or indeed missing... that would be
a different matter

I know... the ruins are not in the image, but what the building in the image
holds.

The sacrophagus is a symbol of the most important modern ruins. The fact that the
building still exists shows that the ruins are still there, essentially untouched.

This would all be explained in my text file.

I think this would be better suited to a "Disasters" topic. *shrudder*

Some floodlights and barbwire? Radiation signs?

Yep, the structure made after the incident to contain the destroyed part of the
plant.
Is it meant to be so gray? I could see why in order to convey an emotion or art
about it but I keep wanting to see bluer sky through the clouds and stronger
color contrasts. I'm going against what I was just saying earlier in the thread
about monitors and televisions, but probably because this is so gray, like it
needs rain to go with it or something. But don't listen to me, you don't have
long to finish it up.

Actually, the real structure is painted a rather perky blue. I took some artistic
liscences, since I wanted this to look as ominous as possible. Hence the paint
scheme, and the clouds. Anything cheerful would kinda ruin the effect...

I would have liked to have snow, but time ran out :)

Oh dang! Yeah, snow would've done it good for sure. Too bad, but maybe after
IRTC then? Anyhow I like the picture, I was just voicing my own wants there.

Looks very promising! I hope radiosity will help on the low contrast light it
currently has. Good luck in the competition!

Were they trying to make it cheerful or being ironic? Why didn't they go the
whole way and put Smurfs on it or something.
