Yesterday I posted a message saying I have been away from the Pov-Ray
scene for quite some time, at least it feels like a long time. Well I
thought it was time I got back into the swing of things. So I created
this image, really just the first thing that came into my head. I like
the results considering I am a bit rusty.

i like the wall tex and the vase is very nice, it needs a spot pointing onto
the table to lighten the focus of the scene up a little

Pretty good for rusty or well oiled.
I haven't a clue about the pen or knife whichever it is and what the paper is
supposed to be there. Just looks like it would be tough going using either
thing on that very rough table. Well, it looks very rough anyhow, but then the
edges and shadow on it doesn't appear so. At first sight it doesn't matter, my
attention was on the vase and ink well (if it is a ink well).

Hey Tom.
Very nice. Duh.

On a personal note I must add this:
Oh, you are one of these young turks.

"Age and treachery will overcome youth and deceit"
or something like that.

And what is with that funky brick texture?

Blah, blah, blah,

Like you care,

"Old age and treachery will overcome youth and skill..." one of my
favorite quotes.

I like it a lot, Tom. Now model something in Max and bring it in to
complement the scene. (BTW, are you using radiosity? Are you using MegaPOV?)

Thanks Ken.

And, to misquote myself:

Very nice. I think you will get a more natural shadow if you adjust your
area light to face the scene. The shadow from the top of the vase is
sharper than the rest of it. If you're using MegaPov you may use the
circular-keyword and this will be done automagically.

the rough look of the table was on purpose. It was to add to the mood in the scene.
To give it a bit of a used, old feel. what is wrong with the Paper? Other than the
lines you can see in it which is caused by the way I used the patch. Yes that is a
fountain pen, it is a bit hard to make the detail out on it.

Yes it is an ink well.
