I wonder if there's a simple and more efficient way to make something
like this. This image takes about an hour to parse and enough memory to
add another half hour just for diskswapping. Tracing takes less then a
minute... (But it's the result that counts...)
There must be a neat isosurface that will do this 8)
Not that I really need it, I don't know why exactly I wanted to make
this. Partly because I was inspired by Runes IK neck things I think.

Rather nice texturing there (yes, and modelling too). I think the suction cups
need a bit sharper definition, but that might not be that easy to control.
Perhaps you overdid the number of components?

It's a heightfield so I guess it could be improved. I've never studied
these things up close so this was just to give an impression :)

Yes, obviously, but what I've I wanted an octopus with eight such arms?

I think it looks great. I love how it tapers at the end.
If I were to change anything I would use softer lighting,
but I wouldn't put my machine though such a brutal parse
again:)

Thank you.
The light is a bit harsh, there's no environment whatsoever, so this is
just to get a sharp image. My machine is used to the abuse, it's a
matter of training and some kind words now and then...
