I just thought I'd post an image while I still can, cause with this
dreaded y2k bug perhaps this whole news server goes haywire!
Right.. Anyway I was inspired by the screwdriver postings a couple of
months ago and made this thing pretty much finished in PR 3.1.
I've now rendered it in MegaPov .3 and added radiosity and diffuse
reflection. (I gave up getting those photons where I wanted them.)
Please feel free to comment, but I won't be around to answer any
questions till the next century. Tomorrow morning I'm off to Trondheim
to get drunk, according to old norse new year traditions.
Happy New Year Everyone!

Great pic! It looks however like your metal work surface doesn't tile right.
Check just to the right of the screw-driver-head-container.

That's great! I recognized it immediatly since I recently bought a thing
like this. Only it's grey, and has a ribbed rim. Nice rendering.
Hope you have recovered nicely. Happy New Year!

irrelevant, maybe...
But the item is useful. How about giving it a used touch?
BTW: Happy new year!

This is good. Reminds me that I've run into a problem with my
screwdriver image, and need to start work on it again soon.

Thanks!, and yes I know. The part of the table around the box is made up
of 16 tiled height fields, while the distant parts are bump mapped.
Unfortunately I didn't see that the hfs and the bump map were misaligned
until the end of the 17 hour trace..

Yes, mine has a ribbed ring too, but I took the artistic freedom of
removing the ribs because of render speed and because the bits inside
didn't show off very well.
It might be interesting to see the 3.1 trace, so i'll add it here.

Yes I have, thank you!

Why, that is exactly as I have it, colour excepted! Beautifully
irrelevant...
