Okay, what exactly would you call this? :)

One more iteration and memory usage goes over 200Megs, so I settled.

Hmm, how to save memory....

Ahh, I smell a challenge. If I'm still interested when I get back from 2
weeks vacation (leaving tomorrow) I will attempt to better this. It is a bit
hard to see but is this 5 iterations (5 different sizes of spheres)? If so I
bet I can make at least 7 and maybe 8 AND keep it under 200Megs usage.

What I would do first is split the thing into 2 parts. It is obvious that
each bubbly sphere thingy is repeated in may places. Given this I think you
could create the smaller sphere thingys as a CSG shape and then just repeat
that in different places. The trade off is how small a CSG do you create
versus how many times you want to place it. My guess would be half way, that
is 3 iterations for the small thingy and use it for 3 iterations of the big
thingy.

Anyhoo, I hope the above makes some sort of sense. Good luck and I'll be
back in 2 weeks.

It might be something with the colour (or just my preoccupation) but how about:
SuperTit?

I known this is way off topic, but...

In you last message, is there any reason why your posting the message using
the "ISO-2022-Japan" character set. Just asking, because Outlook keeps
asking me to install Japanese Text Display support (it's a 3 Meg download.)

Just wondering...

Dave

Uh oh... this gets me back to "You know you've been raytracing to long
when..."

you see 88,000 spheres and immediately think "SuperTit"

BTW Who needs 88000 spheres?

That's closer to my guess, Bryan. ;)

Remco? Maybe the "Village Tit?" :)

  My intention here was to create an object,assembled from many objects,
with textures applied to independant objects. This scene was created with
while loops, recursively defined. I knew I was into trouble after the second
iteration, because my first use of this object was with media. Windows
crashed after filling my hard drive with swap file and took five minutes to
recover. So, I switched to a simple texture and managed another iteration.
Finally, by applying the texture after the declaration, I can get to four
iterations. All I want is five. :)
  I have 128Megs of RAM installed, and 500Megs free on the Windows drive.
  So, okay! I loaned out my Pov Manual. :) What's more wasteful memory-wise?
  I think this code is pretty clear(?) given the resulting image.

   #while (Level>-46)
      #declare Times = 0;
      #while (Times<289)
         object { FourthArray scale .3 translate -1.33*x rotate Level*z
rotate (Times+Offset)*y }
         #declare Times = Times+72;
      #end
      #declare Level = Level-45;
      #declare Offset = Offset-32.5;
   #end

(Sorry, Ken).
