Wow! I thought it was uvpov!

And that brings me to my point: With uvpov it would be better! POV cannot
handle caustics and real reflection very well, so the lens flare would
actually be more correct using uvpov, I think.

And one quiestion:
What kind of camera type did you use? It should be an isometric one (with
parallell rays) behind the lenses, because your camera really is in front of
the camera. You did not mention this, so I assume you have used the standard
pin-hole camera.

By all means! A great effort. Are there any docs on lenses and cameras
around the net?

Oh, one more thing: Why not use the dispersion patch. Using that, one should
even be able to simulate focal blur and such. Whee... Try it, TYRY IT!

Thanks for a great image!

I will sort out some source code to post at some point, but i am not totally
happy with it all yet..

I want to model a decent set of lenses before i go uvpov, however it will be
better.

Yes standard pov camera, and iso cam would be much better, but untill i have
sort out a better set of lenses and virtual camera assembly it may not may
much difference

No, i have search for hours - i am off to the local library today to find

chances

Knock around here for a while. I has several images of real world
mirror, optics, and lens assemblies:

Nice demonstration.

Have you seen my example in this newsgroup?

By the way, you can change the "zoom" effect by changing the IOR for each of
the lenses.

Whoa! - isn't that like cheating just a tad?

There's no such thing as cheating when it comes to POV :)

it depends on what you are trying to get, but at the end of the day, as long
as the ouput is 100% pov :)

i dont like having to touch an image up in a paint program after tho, i
would concider that cheating..

Rick

Look for physics text books, preferably ones aimed at lower division
college courses. They will contain a section on basic optics, along with
the pertenate equasions.
