Well, this is one of my first(and only) attempts at a "Real Life" (tm)
item. it's a oil burner.(or "Aroma Jar") Basicly, you mix a little water
with some fragrance oil in the top, and put a candle beneath.

Issues:
	I can't get the brushed metal feel "right" this one is instead of the
real thing that is brushed in circles, giving a dull fine feeling. I
can't seem to do it without severe moire patterns(or, if I zoom in
something terribly)

	Water is too blue. I know, I know. I'm still working on this one. If
anyone has a good water I'm happy to take it .-)

I'm happy with the model as such(yep, all CSG). but then, it wasn't a
very difficult object to model in csg, due to teh very clean feel of it.
(Actually, i'd say this is close to perfect, can't find any issues)

i'd like some input on this(hey, now its like RL, lets make it better:-)

but as I stated, I'm not happy with the metal, and i need to work some
with the water(how's the irid?)

Yeah, I agree with this. I have a little POV room I keep so that I can look
at metals and glass in it. You need various reflections to get the right
look.

Water isn't blue. Water is clear. Water looks better if it reflects its
environment. Water is wet, and has a specific index of refraction (1.33 at
20 degrees C.). Water does not sit in containers in a flat manner.
  With all of that said, my water sux. :)
  I think the SuperPatch will make the best water, currently. I haven't had
good success with it yet, but I'm still convinced. I can't wait to see the
photon patch added to the super patch and all added to Pov 3.5.
  I also can't wait until I have the patience to produce stunning water! :)

I agree with both of you, but I can't say I have one at hand. This is a simple
"workbench" for me, and I use this (with a smaller Arealight) to model most of
items. 

And, I for one belive that most textures must be "tweaked" to fit in a scene...

With reflective images I always use a sphere with a lot of turbulence and
contrast and a plane in the background. It can also help to throw in some extra
bright light.
