Yeah, somehow light isn't as scary as the thought of some proton getting me!

You may not respect a light bulb for it's meager photon energy but
I gaurantee you would have new found respect for the photons coming
out of a 5kw industrial laser cutting system if you got in front of
one :)

Just compare that to a small tad of proton star material. :) Even in a
starship, that's gotta hurt! heh

Arguably I would not wish to subject myself to either source of
life threatening material and you are right I would probably prefer
to take my chances with the laser. With my shiny bright disposition
the laser would probably just bounce off leaving me unharmed.

Well, I thought you might have some insight as to what a photon torpedo
actually is. I'm sure it is some form of nastiness beyond lasers, but I have
no idea in what form. :)
I imagine something like a water balloon, with a very high energy payload.
Why? I have no idea. :)

Rember one of the star treks where they buried spok in one, its like a big
flay cylinder / casket shape, just make a few, and a bright weid glow..

I assume you mean neutron star. No such thing as a proton star.

It has small amounts of matter and antimatter annihilate when the
torpedo explodes. Since annihilation converts all matter to energy, that's
one
BIG explosion. E=mc^2 where m is in kg, E is in Joules and c=3*10^8 ms^-1
Thats a photon torpedo from Startrek. No idea what a proton torpedo from
Starwars is.

You're right of course! Protons cannot form a star, because they cannot
bind to one another. The proton weapon is a theoretical device at best, as
are all S.F. devices. Right? :)
Matter/anti-matter...heh
