Greetings,

My nephew Mike Tyler has struck again. This is his first unassisted
image and a variation on the drums example scene that comes with the
Pov distribution files. The source for the face in the back he tells
me comes from a Grateful Dead poster image his dad has in his images
directory. It has been enhanced to Mike's specifications using various
Photo Shop plugins inside PSP 4.1.

When Mike sent this image to me he simply stated that this raytracing
stuff is "Way cool" and has more ideas he is working on. He thinks
there are way to many options and is having trouble learning everything
at once.

I think I am having the same problems Mike.

Let me be the first to comment. This kid is knocking my socks off.
If anything the perseption from that of an 8 (and a half) year old
brought to this medium is both refreshing and unexpected. I think
I'm going to have to kill him before it's too late. Sorry Mike it's
not your fault : )

Any comments on his image will be forwarded to him as I did with
the comments to his last posted image. He is not yet allowed on the
internet so he is unable to visit here. Be assured I will let him
see your comments and will also reply with any comments he makes in
return.

Hi Mike!

This is a far better picture than my first pic that I did several years
ago. I love the picture in the background and how it is reflected by the
water and the way it shines through the drums.

If you keep up the good work you will soon make the pics from Uncle Ken
look pale!!

All the best,

Marc

LOL, yeah... :-O

Hey Mike, great work! I think it's an excellent form of artistic
expression! Keep up the great work and we all look forward to more images
from you! You should ask Uncle Ken about julia fractals, I'm sure that
you'll like them!

Keep on tracing! Hi from Australia! :)
(p.s. Australia isn't all kangaroos, koalas and desert by the way... there
are actually nice people here too, he he he ;-)

Mike, you already have a significant talent. I can't get my son off of
Quake long enough to learn tracing, and he has no interest anyway. Keep on
tracing!

Must have been a small image to start I guess. The "jaggies" or
pixelization is pretty rampant. I don't mind smaller images, they can look
better than the larger sometimes. Anyway, great drum modeling Mike.
The use of colored lights is well done too, although what probably would
have done this much better is spotlights trained upon various regions so
as not to fill the entire image.
Keep it up and I may look into getting a mad scientist to do a brain
transfer between us.
