Hi!

With all the candles popping up here, I thought to post mine :)
Done a while back as my first try with 3.0's halo (the smoke is a halo too
btw).

Johannes.

Well, maybe I should have given some more detail:

Everything was modelled in Moray 2.5b back then (so I added the halos into
the code by hand), and there are area-lights sitting in the candles flame.
Those are 5x5 area-lights scaled very small, placed a small bit above the
wicks (in real live probably 5mm or so).
I rather like the different types of shadows: Each candle has a sharp shadow
from the other candle's light (where the distance light->object is large in
comparison to the distance object->shadow_surface) and a very faint fuzzy
shadow from its own light (distance light->object small in comparison to
object->shadow_surface).

Really nice! I tried something like this (with halos), but couldn't get the
flame to look right. I was trying to get a blue halo to appear below a
yellow halo, but for some reason had to keep them separated by too large a
gap.

I did learn that rotating it made for the best animation, but I couldn't
satisfy my vision and put it on the back burner.

I too, still have 3.02 installed, but haven't gone back to it.

Strange ! I tried opening the file twice and both times PSP responded
with: incorrect data encountered file appears to be corrupt. I don't
get to see it. Boo hoo.

Strange indeed, because I use PSP too.

Anyway, the image is also available on my homepage, in the raytracing
section:

or directly at:

Greetings,

Oh those candles. I have indeed seen them before. I wasn't sure until
I saw your two dragon images and it all flashed back in an instant.

  Nice candles Johannes.
