Hi There

I know this is not a great image not even a good one, but : this scene is
made of 2 (two !) objects (+ sky), well you've guessed already : 2 domes !

Philippe

You are right. It is not a great image but it does have the distinction
of having the most artistic construction for a cone that I have seen.
The ice cream texture needs some serious help though. Add some specular
highlighting and a dash of reflection and it would look a lot better.

The purpose of this image was not to actually model an ice-cream (the ice
part should be a lot less symmetrical, there should be drops of ice on the
come...) but to experiment my Dome Plugin (scene was build in moray) and
show that a dome is not always on the top of a house.

I join a close-up of the cone (a dome in fact)

BTW you were right about the ice-cream texture!

To be fair, you would have too add that a dome is put together out of
probably hundreds of other objects (at least on POV-Ray level), which sort
of kills the 2 object theory ;-)

I knew somebody would say that, so my answer is ready :

It *IS* a two object scene from the human point of view, that mean that I've
dropped 2 objects (and for one of them I used the default parameters !!!).
Of course from the pov point of view they are made of hundreds of objects,
but think, from the pov interface point of view a cube is one object, but
made of six faces, and each time you render a final image it is made of 640x
480 points (at least), and if you go down to the processor you'll find many
millions bits.

To write it down clearly the technical simplicity of a scene depends on how
many objects the human being, hitting the keyboard has to master, *NOT* what
the computer has to do. That takes the 2 object theory back to life (I
believe)

Of course this measure has nothing to do with the artistical interest of the
scene, or even in the overall interest.

What I wanted to prove is the extreme simplicity of the Dome generator and
its versatility (From actual Domes, to baskets via ice-cream cones) so it
was only self-satisfaction :))
