Hey All,

Somebody suggested we need a lawn mower to cope with all the grass that's
been sprouting up here lately. I whipped up the crude beginnings of a lawn
mower engine... more to come.

Eric

I seem to recall making that statement. That is either a good
beginning for a 1 cylinder gas engine or a nice decorative
outdoors walkway light. Good for around gardens and lawns.

I looked thru the old grass posts, but couldn't find your post, but when I
originally read it I thought that a lawn mower would make a good project...
I've been stumped lately for something to make and thought that the handle
for the mower would be a good introduction to using the sphere sweep of the
SuperPatch. I don't have a lawn mower (I live in a condo) so I'll have to
get the maintenance guy to let me look at his to get the details right. I
added the worn metal texture posted elsewhere in this group to it.

Ya know... when I went to post the picture I thought of putting "Lawnmower
Man" as the subject line.

Ken Tyler explains his concerns about the amounts of rendered grass
ih his messag of 02-08-19999.

Ken quotes Ken;

YAGGI ! Yet another great grass image !

There has been so much grass growing on this server lately
someone is going to have to model a lawn mower bfore it
get's out of hand.

Thanks, but what I'm getting best at is stealing other people's ideas. The
texture used was posted here by someone else (worn metal texture on a metal
mask). I'm especially proud of the rounded edges on all the objects. I
started out by making the engine block and cooling fins out of boxes and
cylinders, but thought it didn't look right. I added cylinders to all the
edges with spheres at the corners and toruses (tori???) around the
cylinders. The bolts were made in sPatch and the spark plug is just a
cylinder with a cylinder and sphere for a cap (I often start out with crude
objects just to get the position and size and then replace them later with
more complex shapes).
