I was planning to make a prison cell like Kyle's, but it doesn't look like
one.  So I call it 'just a room'.
Radiosity used.
Blurry reflection on door is done with PSP5, as well as the glow on the
light.
I made some errors like forgetting to add a lensflare.  Also POVRay had
trouble rendering the reflections on the door, so I had to change it in PSP.
It looks much better than the original render (second image).

Nice image though there seems to be something with the light. I can't really say
what it is, but it'll be something with the combination lamp-daylight.
Also, please, _don't_ add a lense-flare.

I've made the rendered image brighter, that might be the problem.

Why no?  I think it would look really nice!  I don't mean a lensflare with
spots; just a source.

I suggest using an area light for the outside light.  The shadow will look
much more realistic (not that I've been in a prison cell before, although
there was that one time when... never mind)

I should leave this to the lens-flare-experts, but I believe that such a thing
occurs with sunlight, or perhaps strong spotlights and is used to create some
dramatic effect (romantic, dynamic) that is out of place here. But that's just
my feeble attempt at an opinion.

Yes, I thought of that too, but this render took allready more than one
hour, and I wasn't using my own PC (because I haven't got a PC of my own
anymore ;-), so I really didn't want to render it again.  At least not
instantly after that render.  Maybe I'll improve it some day, however I
don't think this image is worth the effort.

Lens flares happen all of the time... but most of the time they are so
subtle that you don't notice them.  Usually you just get a mild glow
around the source, and maybe a few sparkles.  You only get really visible
flare reflections if the light source is very bright (relative to the rest
of the scene).

Errrr, lens-flares only happen when you have a lens?
If you want your image to look as real as possible you could try to make it look
like if it were through a camera. Perhaps that tells us something about the way
we see reality.

If you have ever looked at the rounded corner of a chrome
bumper in bright sunlight you must surely have noticed that
lens flares can occur independantly of camreas. Like that
flare the seems to rip right through the outer cornea of
your eye right into you brain. But really some objects
with the right surface properties will disperse the light
with a flaring brilliance.

Don't forget that we have a lens in our eyes!  It really causes simple
lensflares, however the better your view is, the less obvious the lensflare
is.  If you wear glasses the effect is even bigger (the glasses are lenses
too,  you'll even get those spots!).
