Nice, but I think that blue colorisation on edges from such distance is
too much and shadowed part shouldn't be visible either. As proof of it
here are links to pictures from Apollo Moon mission:

As I understand it, this blue colorisation could be observed only
from lower position, when camera shoots more across planet surface:

Of course reality is sometimes not so beautiful as some images ;-)
It would be nice, if clouds could cast shadows to land, but this
might be tricky...

They do. Cast shadows that is. There are 3 spheres. The land, the clouds,
the atmosphere. If you look close, you can see the shadows. Oh, and I got
really into the NASA picture database when making this model. The only
thing it's going to be used for is a cresent in my IRTC anim entry.
Strangely, the scattering version is faster than the emitting version!!

An interesting use of my patch...
BTW, I am also planning a twirl warp which could be used for this sort
of thing.

So your planet is completely procedural, you can make an infinite number
of planets with it? That might make an interesting image...hundreds of
planets, all very similar, but no two identical, aligned in lines along
each axis.
