Parts of this animation are technically interesting. However I find it is
trying to force feed a message that just doesn't make it "work" for me.

I think that the sin needs to bleed a bit!!!! Perhaps in your lesson,
you could share the story of early Christian emperor Theodosius. There
was a man who knew how to take care of sin. Though Constantine's (the
father of the Christian Bible) nephew Julian had served for a short time
between, Theodosius was Constantine's true successor. At that time, many
Christians committed the sin of refusing to accept the revision of their
religion to include the Pagan prophesies of virgin birth and
resurrection. Theodosius stood firm. He invited these sinners to a
circus, and then, like your animation, snuffed them out. Fifteen
thousand of them. I think that this story would be a good example for
the kids.

From past post I would have gathered the subject matter of animation and
images posted here was not of much concern. From nudity to paganism and the
occult. Why would my post now some how require such criticism over the
content?

Having not paid much attention to this group I haven't spotted any of those
posts that you refer too.

I don't then feel qualified to comment on those. I would imagine that they
words [nudity] or [offensive] may be used in the subject line of such a
post?

Like I said it just doesn't "work" for _me_. I don't mean to offend by that
but perhaps the subject matter could be handled in a different way to get
the same message?

Infact I find that the cross hitting the "sin" seems quite a violent act.
Not something I associate with.

Religious over zealousness can sometimes perpetuate (sp?) the exact thing
that is trying to be contained.

Some so called religious people are infact hiding behind a belief system to
excuse their own shortcomings or weakness. It can give the majority a bad
name I'm afraid.

Its dangerous ground I am treading here. I try not to offend just point out
some of my own experiences.

I understand.

I need to explain the idea. The lesson did just that.
The point is that we are all sinners. Sin will get in the way of blessing
from God. How ever if we truly live by the sacrifice of Jesus sin in our
lives is crushed and has no power over us. We will continue to sin but as
long as we continue to resist and focus on what took place on the cross we
can defeat sin and the devil. So the point was to illustrate how that cross
affectively kills sin in our lives. In biblical terms we are covered by the
blood. With out the context of the symbols I can understand your comment. I
did not expect the content of any art to be that important here.

And for who ever commented about the word sin, yes it is mapped onto a poly
sphere. I used another program for that. I was out of time and needed a
quick gui to build the motion path. All of it was composed in Premiere.

OK lets leave the religion and symbolism discussion behind.... It can cause
flame wars and all sorts of nasties... ;)

Anyway... I wanted to know how you did the ground crumbling under the impact
of the cross.

Heightfield composed in photoshop.
The scale on the y is animated in time with the cross.

Christians are. Others might or might not agree.

I just remembered that I had posted another animation before. Only one. It
had been a car driving by. I had not remembered that I had posted and got
caught up in the idea of posting an animation. My brain misfires from time
to time. Sorry :) !
