Yes, things like this can easily be done in POV-Ray 3.5 using the
trace() feature combined with the Reorient_Trans() macro from
transforms.inc. You may have done it another way.

That sounds very much like what I was doing. I spent a day trying to
figure out how to do the stand macro and only on the 2nd reread of the
documentation did I discover the necessary function calls. I suppose
there is just so much information in there it can be hard to winkle
out some times.
