I made the animation go much slower, I added a shadow from the smoke and
an orange glow from the fire, and I also added some sound effects,
though they sound rather poor...

Oh, and I forgot to say that I added some more damage to the building
too.

The result can be seen on my website where the animation is called
"Blow-up":

What do you think? :)

By the way, you can find some more information about the Blow-up
animation in this thread at CG Talk:

very nice, but I think the explosion and debris moves a bit to slowly at the
beginning, but all in all, excellent explosion.

I downloaded the animation and then called my lovely wife into the room.
I said, "Have you seen this on the news yet?" and pushed "play". She said,
"It almost looks fake".

    Otherwise it looks great!

Once the fire's burning it look sgreat, but the first two pushes of
smoke or whatever move too much "of a mass." I mean they move like they
are coherent and it really takes away from the verisimilitude you're
striving for- as for realism I can't comment having not witnessed too
many fiery explosions in my life.

The fire seems hot enough to warrent heat waves too... it's awfully
bright yellow and not very "vicious low-temp red"- that's the color I've
seen when I've watched buildings burn.

admirable effort!

I wonder how the news crew knew, that something worth taping were going
to happen there? Did the terrorists tip them off? If so, why didn't they
try to prevent it, instead of just filming it? There is something rotten
in the media world ;-)

Thanks, maybe I'll make the initial explosion a bit faster.

Hehe, the ultimative test... ;)

Thanks. :)

I think what is needed to make it more realistic is many small tweaks.
Unfortunately those are rather difficult to do due to a rather long
render time. :(
I don't think I can do another of those "big improvements"...

Yeah, I'll try to look into that...

I don't think heat waves are noticeable at this scale?

I'll try to make the fire more reddish.
