I have a photo of a sonic shock wave created by a jet fighter going super
sonic.
I'll scan and post it if it helps

how about the videos of the plane-crash in the WTC?
Or, maybe even better, any action-movie...

a very quickly expanding sphere - perhaps 5 frames, distorts slightly at
edge of sphere, perhaps slightly increasing brightness at edge as well.

Isn't super sonic related to sound and thus invisible to the naked eye? If
so, I'm not interested, but if not, then I'd be very interested. :)

I found one visible shock wave. The second explosion on this clip shows
a shockwave just before the third explosion confuses the image.

To make it cool, show a rocket coming in from off-screen.

When breaking the Mach 1, the body generating the sound waves moves
*with* the waves which accounts for some very interesting physical
phenomena, not the least of which is rapid condensation of water at
the wavefront, which can be seen in the famous photo of a Tomcat (I
think) going at Mach 1.
