Inspired by Tim's animation I made this one. Also a perfect occasion to test
bouncing and "floating" against a moving object. :)

Hope you like it.

BTW, I didn't do anything special to make the balls roll around there in the
edge; it's just a result of the movement of the pad...

The first part looks very good, but later the particles seem to stay too
fast.  I suppose you don't simulate friction on the surface, doing this
could add much to realism IMO.

Though the movement of the pad could be adding energy to the particles.
Perhaps it's teflon? ;) Still looks good, anyway. And at first I thought I
saw three balls fall through, but watching, I can see they bounced over the
side

balls shot in general direction of hole from a tee a mile away.

Correct, I don't simulate friction on the surface because I think it would
lead to uncontrollable results with the algorithms I'm using. I'll probably
investigate that further.

That said, the particles do gain energy from the motion of the pad.

Is this scene generated in Mathematica like some of the other recent ones? I
wonder if anyone has any particle systems that "run" completely under POV..

I don't think so. Most of these scenes are exclusively POV generated.

But Chris Colefax' systems are not so up to date. They lack all the
possibilites offered by the trace () function.
