Nice - but something's not quite right. Not sure, but I think he should
straighten the leg more that's taking the weight.

I'll go with Tom on that, unless he's carrying a satellite dish up those
stairs, the back leg should extend to fully straight.

Well, I left this running full screen for about 10 mins, and Zoe (11month
old daughter) got quite aggitated by it, she kept shouting at the screen.

we have no idea why, she does not normally pay attention to TV or computer
screens, no matter what is on them, so this anim of yours seems to have
touched a nerve...

I feel i am unable to comment further until Zoe can decide wheather she was
shouting in happiness or horror, as we are all quite miffed.

Could be to do with the stairs - there's no way they could support
someone walking up them - I'm not sure when kids start to pick up on that
kind of thing, but it's probably far earlier then you'd think...

How about the fact that the person is green and has no cloths on?

Could be, but the purple dinosaurs and assorted other multicoloured
furry (and, mostly, clothingless) humanoids to be found on kids TV nowadays
suggests otherwise...

Cool.

If I might offer a suggestion it would be to move the camera smoothly
upwards and to the right so the person stays completely in frame for the
whole movie. I think the result would look like somebody walking up a down
escalator.

This would have a couple of advantages:

- It would allow you to study the walking motion in detail to see how it
might be improved without waiting for the chap to re-enter the frame.

- It would allow you to increase the window dimensions or number of frames
without increasing the file size, since you only need him to climb two
stairs before you loop.

If you want to get really carried away you could film somebody walking up an
escalator (or stairs) and see how the motion compares to your blob man.

Looking forward to future iterations of the green stair climber :-)

1) ROTFLOL as for the story about the 11 month old girl's reaction. I showed
my 15 month old boy. Over the course of a minute he twice pointed to the screen
to shout "Dehdeh" (which in Zacharese is distinct from the word for father,
"Dadee".

2) As for the escalator effect, I actually published that here months ago, and
that's the reason for the apology.

3) Thanks for the advice on the leg bending.

4) <grumble> As for the physical impossibility of the other stair structure,
OKAY YOU GUYS here's a fix!
(No cruelty to 11 month olds intended) ;-)

I Showed this one to Zoe, she spotted it on my machine and pulled her self
up on tip-toes at my desk to have a look, then got very angry and started
shouting at it.
