Why is it that 3/4 of the images posted in here, I get "driver not found" errors. I
am only able to view about half the mpegs, and almost none of the avi's, and what the
heck is an m1v?

It sounds like you have to search the net for dling all those codecs...
Start from divx.

I agree.

Try to find a DIVX codec for NT. You can't. So the posters who insist on
using DIVX automatically exclude a large part of their target audience.

http://www.divx.com/

Works fine for me on NT4 SP6, although my machine is a bit underpowerd
for DIVX.

Works fine here at work. 33 MHz Celeron with WinNT4 Workstation SP6.

  Sometimes you have no choice.
The DivX version of the animation with an acceptable quality could take
1 MB, while the equivalent MPEG1 takes more than 4 MB. The latter just can't
be posted due to size limits.
Usually reducing the MPEG1 to the same size as the DivX destroys the image
almost completely.

Besides, MPEG4 is the future. We can't live with MPEG1 forever.

Where at divx.com did you find a codec for NT? I went all over that site
and could only find one for Win 2000.

As far as I know, an "m1v" is simply another extension for an MPEG-1 file.
Rename it to .mpg, and your viewer should show it just fine.
