Quite good for a first animation, 

i'm not totally sure what causes the flickering at the sharp edges, 
you should use antialiasing with jitter turned off, if you already do
that, forget about it.  

You also might want to try Chris Colefax's spline macro file:
http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Lakes/1434/spline/index.html
for a curved animation path.

my first had 12 frames and took all night (pov2.2 on a 486sx25) - and was a
mirror ball moving around another mirror ball, on a mirrored checkered
plane.....

oops, ok, i have a 450 Mhz Compi, not the fastest at all, but faster than a
486sx25 i think ;-)
