Here's a short clip from a test run of some particle macros i've been
working on. 121 spherical blob components with individual motion and a
very buggy collision handler. I've been trying to use the trace
function for collision detection, but I'm still having problems. I'm
trying to come up with a generalized way of implementing collisions
between nonspherical objects. (i think i have an idea)...
Anyway, thought this one looked cool, so i'm posting it here.

p.s.
a longer version of the blob animation can be found at:

"blobicle" huh. Not sure how the name fits. Oh! Particle... blob... blob
particle. I get it now. Slow mind here.
I can't really see how this is doing any collision detection except it all
flies apart so it may be a repelling force there. If so have you tried
throwing it all together instead to see how it reacts?

Eric,
On my site there is a tutorial called "Saga of the Leaf". The author
(EndorWiggens) makes a falling leaf animation, with wind effects and
collision detection. Maybe the source will have some info that will aid you.

www.crosswinds.net/~povstudy
once you are past the enter page, select [Tutorials][POV Custom] towards the
upper left of the screen. Click the image to open the tutorial.

Hope it helps...
