Just wondering what you folks use to view these animations...

I'm using the netscape news reader, and my options for viewing
animations are limited to downloading the file, then manually opening it
later.

There must be a better way.. is there?

Netscape Communicator 4.51 being used here (same as 4.5 really).
I always click on the animation link even if it says it's doing the d/l
of the file. Rarely ever comes up automatically, if at all. If I go that
route it almost always displays here, unless it's one of the
"nonflattened" mac files I guess, as has been pointed out.
I have had troubles with NS Com d/l the zips though, I have to
right-click and Save As or I crash it. Could be my ZIP Magic 98 doing
that though, still not sure.

If you check the preferences -> Navigator, there's an "Application"-tab.
There you can specify mime-types for some formats, and how NS should
behave with those.

Fix a mime-type for mpeg (or whatever you have problem with) and just
choose something else than "Save to file".

Ok... I've been playing around and I've found a problem.

My movies are associated, for some reason, with a program that has never
existed on my computer. Dunno how that came about, but there we go.

Can someone give me a sample of what should be in the field? I tried copying
the association that came from Windows Explorer, but while the viewer comes
up, it doesn't know what file to open.

Help!

xanim +Ae +Ca +CF4 -Cn %s
though I guess you should install solaris first. Or linux. But who shouldn't ;-)

Nope... didn't work.

What is xanim? It seems that Netscape can't find it.

For MS Media Player to open MPG or AVI files:

 C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\mplayer.exe  /Open "%L"

This would be found under Action as Open and /Play in place of /Open for the Play
action.
Simple, isn't it?
