I have to also say that it does matter (In my opinion). It really makes a
difference if you are trying to make seamlessly tiling pictures using the
orthographic camera. Please fix it, pretty please.

I also find this a problem. If you need encouragement, then yes,
please fix this.

Thanks,
Glen

Just tried this (beta 7, Windows ME (yes, I finally
replaced my Amiga)) and can verify that the effect exists. I
created the scene as described above and rendered it at 320x240,
512x384, 640x480, 800x600, 1024x1024. I even rendered it to
a square, at 512x512. In all cases, there was no red with
AA off but with AA method 1 and AA method 2, there was red on
the left edge and on the bottom edge.
	I then tried povray 3.1 (I was running v3.1 and v3.5 at
the same time, rendering the same file, how cool is that?) and
the effect did not happen! No red!
What is odd is that I sort of remember the problem
existing wayyyyy back in the day, in DKB render!
	Very odd.
Could it be a floating point error as a result of
switching to a different c compiler?

Pete

I am sorry to hear that. I have fond memories of my old
Amiga 2000.

With AA off, the camera is still shifted by 1/2 pixel; you just don't see
any red since the camera rays still end up on the box.

That's because the AA threshold is playing tricks on you. Try +am2 or +a0.0
and you'll see that the problem is still there.

No. I've looked at the 3.1 source, and the problem is a bug in the code. See
my earlier thread about this bug:

Ok.

	Ok. I didn't know.
Well, at any rate, I do agree with you that it is an
annoyance and hopefully it can be fixed.

Pete

p.s.

Don't know if this is related to the 1 pixel camera bug
or not, but if you take an image map and map it to a rectangle
that is the same size/position, the very top of the reactangle
shows the bottom line of the image. This one goes back to DKB
render but I was never sure if it was a real bug or not.

I do miss my 'miggy, but I *had* to replace it.
I needed to be able to run v3.5, and to do iso-surfaces.
I wanted to not have to take renders to work to finish
them! :)
