I disagree.
1: I may need radiosity in a preview, e.g. when I want to test wether
radiosity suffices to shed enough light on some part of a scene.
2: I may not mind the 33% overhead, e.g. when I render somebody
else's scene and I want to know quickly what it is and only
eventually obtain the final image.
3: The doc (5.2.2.2.4) reads:
Future versions of POV-Ray will include some system
of temporary files or buffers which will eliminatethese
inefficiencies and limitations.
As soon as that is established, mosaic preview will be as quick as
line-by-line preview, but more informative. At that time everybody
will mix radiosity and mosaic, so why disallow now?

Would You like to describe what are you consider crazy in your original post ?
Doesn't +SP and +EP override the pretrace settings ? Wasn't this intentional
or something left by mistake ? :-)
The only thing I consider inconsistent is that something called 'preview'
influences something called 'pretrace' without any well written note or parse
warning. They are two separated technics but somehow they share settings and
it confused a few people - why to not warn users about it. There are more
obvious notes builded in package like "You can press F1 within editor to get
syntax help" tip.

Maybe just because you wrote it a long time ago?

No. I doubt my sanity because I am so sure that I did not post that
article, but was posted by someone else. I don't remember writing that.
I remember reading it, but not writing it myself.
I wonder if a news server can mix two articles together. Perhaps I'm just
being paranoid.

There were three threads so perhaps you are ... less paranoid ;-)

My signature is missing a line in that post.
Conspiracy?

In this post, too. But via NNTP there's the right signature, just at the
web access the line is missing. Very strange...

It must be posted by you.

It was, after all, five months ago...

Yes, I noticed that before. It must be caused by the opening square bracket at
the 1st position of the 2nd line. (just a guess)
