I have changed this source a lot, but when I'll find this again I'll save
screenshots and scene file. Do you need some part of registers or other saved
configuration ?

Ok. Freash installation on POV 3.5 b 14 icl on WinNT Sp 6 PII 233 with 128 MB.
Just +FN switch added. All switches are listed on screenshots. Scene file on
screenshot and as attachement after moment in p.b-t.binaries.

ok, I rendered this exactly as per your example, and the problem does not
occur
for me. Perhaps this is an NT v4 issue ? (though I can't think of why it
should be,
since I do the drawing myself within POVWIN).

can you try it on another computer ? does it happen with the VC6 version ?

I have not tested this particular example on any other computer machine yet
but similiar things happens to me at home on 95 iirc

yes. I just tested this and example I posted you makes the same appearance as
I posted. But when I changed source to
  plane{
  z,0
  finish{ambient 1 diffuse 0}
  pigment{function{x}
  }
  scale .35
  translate z*10
  }
then bug dissapeared. Switching between these two scripts shows and hides this
bug.

I just tested this on two other machines
POV 3.5 b 14 icl on WinNT on dual P4 ~1 GHz with 1 GB
POV 3.5 b 14 icl on W2000 on mono P4
I couldn't replicate this behaviour on both.
Do you need additional informations about my PII or NT4 ?
