I just uninstalled POV-Win 3.5 beta 2, in order to get ready for
installing beta 3. Out of curiosity, I checked the registry with
regedit, and sure enough, the POV-Ray entries were still there.
Specifically, these registry folders were still there:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\POV-Ray\v3.5\POV-Edit\
HKEY_USERS\Software\POV-Ray\v3.5\POV-Edit\

These folders both contain several registry keys, left over from my
uninstalled copy POV 3.5. Shouldn't these have been erased by the
uninstall procedure?

Later,
Glen

Unfortunately I don't have any control over the uninstaller (I think). It will
only remove entries created by the installer. However, most of the registry
entries (particularly now with beta 3) are created when you run the program for
the first time, so the installer never gets to know about it.

I'll see if I can find a way around this, though I doubt it (now that beta 3 has
the ability to automatically create its own registry setup for a new user on a
W2K or XP system, so it could in theory be installed in half a dozen other user
accounts, and I can't make it search all of them).

I'm the opposite. I haven't used the uninstaller and like having some of my
personal
settings and MRU preserved across installs. But, for the record, Wise performs
its
uninstalls by referencing a log file of changes it makes to the system. POV
could
append registry changes to this log as they are created. Conveniently enough,
the
registry changes are listed last. 'install.log' in the root of the install
directory
(i.e. C:\Program Files\POV-Ray for Windows v3.5\install.log )
